Redwall Abbey is a peaceful place of noble mice. Out of suddenness, a legendary rat called Cluny the Scrounge, evil as always, appears to invade Redwall and kill all the animals that are to stand against him. The mere news that Cluny is alive has already brought tremble on the animals living peacefully along with the rules of Redwall.

Matthias as a warrior of Redwall is afraid of no one. Though he knows that the only way to defeat Cluny and his army is to restore the lost sword of legendary hero of Redwall—Martin. Matthias will find a way to restore the sword even if it’ll cost his life just for the sake of protecting Redwall.

I did not really think I would come a point of reviewing another book for this month after I make a review for Playing Hurt. I did not even think I could finish this book by now. The only reason that hinders me from reading before was my stupid work.

Brian Jacques is quite good at giving equal parts for every character in this book. Every hero seems to be distinguishable through their own personalities and talents. And with giving equal parts, I think the problem was I find hard to accept Matthias as really the main hero of the book when some of the likable characters in this book had fought and turned out to be braver than him and yet the main dig of the story is Matthias as the main hero.

However, I liked this book because anyhow though there were some brutalities in this book; Jacques made this book to be readable by kids as well through effectively making different kinds of animals as different kinds of races in lieu of races of people or magical creatures.

This book has nevertheless a non-stop action that would really match up LOTR.
